Things to do

NGO Management & personal Development; Understand the day to day running of a working NGO and develop a combination of skills including community relationships, operational management, governance, admin and reporting. You will be supported by an Intern Supervisor who will meet with you regularly to encourage weekly learnings and monitor your progression. You’ll also receive additional support through a Personal Development Coach to expand your knowledge about NGO management. Meet with your coach one-on-one where sessions revolve around your personal goals and opportunities to explore what comes after your internship.

Facilitation of projects: Many of the communities we work in suffer from a lack of government funding towards education, healthcare and social services. Many people battle with poverty and the effects of the HIV epidemic, as well as huge unemployment rates. There is a dire need of medical assistance, education, and empowerment for vulnerable populations like youths and pregnant mothers, as well as a need for job creation. It is important for interns to see first-hand the communities we assist; you will spend time on our projects, getting to know our fantastic community partners and enhancing relations. You can expect to run workshops in the communities we partner with to leave your impact and receive a better, in-depth understanding of our projects. Your working week will be split between office time and community engagement.

Fundraising and Marketing: As a charity, a large portion of the Foundations time is dedicated towards fundraising and donor relations. Once-off, regular and corporate donors are vital to the Foundations survival and ultimately influence the impact that can be made on the ground, in Tanzania. You will be involved directly with the management of donations and the supervision of the implementation of all funds. This will include all financial aspects, including the monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on all donations.

Measuring Impact; Measuring the impact our projects have on the communities and conservation is essential to ensure we are making a difference. We take our work seriously and are constantly looking for innovative ways in which we can deliver programs that will educate, empower and enrich our community partners and conservation programs. You will work alongside the Foundations Impact Manager.
